Gang Violence Stopped: Justice for a Bystander and a Community

Jeremy prosecuted a group of teenage gang members who hunted down a rival over the course of three days. The group of four first attempted to shoot up the rival’s house with an AR-15 but mistakenly targeted the neighbor’s home instead. Two days later, they found their rival near Erie High School and opened fire again, striking a 14-year-old bystander in the neck.

Jeremy worked closely with Erie police detectives to piece together the two incidents, ensuring that all those involved were charged. The two primary offenders pled guilty after cooperating witnesses testified at a Preliminary Hearing. One received a 30-year sentence, eligible for parole after 11.5 years, while the other, who had only shot into the house, was sentenced to 8 years, with parole eligibility after 4 years.
